Llegu\u00e9 a Kent Harrington gracias a un art\u00edculo sobre su \u00faltimo opus, “Tabloid Circus”, donde el cr\u00edtico ba\u00f1aba al escritor de halagos y lo describ\u00eda como “uno de los m\u00e1s originales autores de novela negra norteamericana”. Como esa es una categor\u00eda incre\u00edblemente competitiva, decid\u00ed echarle un ojo al autor.<\/p>\n

Pues cu\u00e1l fue mi sorpresa cuando encontr\u00e9 uno de sus libros en venta en formato digital… Por s\u00f3lo 89 centavos de euro. S\u00ed: *ochenta y nueve centavos*, o medio boleto para el transporte p\u00fablico. El libro f\u00edsico, en el mismo sitio de Amazon, costaba 13 euros, un precio que, si bien es bajo, no puede jam\u00e1s competir con su doppelg\u00e4nger<\/em> electr\u00f3nico, aparte de que lo recibes a los 30 segundos, no cinco d\u00edas despu\u00e9s, por correo.<\/p>\n

La verdad, ha sido un gran hallazgo. “D\u00eda de los muertos\/Day of the dead”, el libro en cuesti\u00f3n, es una divertid\u00edsima novela negra sobre un agente corrupto de la DEA que trabaja como coyote, llevando gente a los Estados Unidos. En medio del ambiente h\u00famedo y sudoroso que plantea Harrington, el agente Calhoun debe lidiar con un brote de dengue que ha contra\u00eddo, aparte de las deudas de apuestas que tambi\u00e9n ha contra\u00eddo y que lo obligan a tomar decisiones cada vez m\u00e1s arriesgadas.<\/p>\n

Si tienes 89 centavos y est\u00e1s buscando una novelita para llevar a la playa este verano, “D\u00eda de los muertos”, de Kent Harrington es una excelente opci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

“En M\u00e9xico, los a\u00f1os cincuenta no hab\u00edan muerto. Marilyn Monroe no hab\u00eda muerto. El machismo no hab\u00eda muerto. Siempre colgaba un peque\u00f1o olor a gente sobreexcitada, como entrar a un cuarto donde alguien acaba de tener sexo”.<\/p>\n
